Colby Gives us Ram Lambs….Again

February 3, 2021February 3, 2021 Amy Wheeler

2/3/21 This ewe has NEVER given us ewe lambs in 3 lambings with 3 different ram sires. We'll try the 4th ram this summer! I really want a ewe lamb out of her! UPDATE: Colby only has half an udder and her lambs may need supplementing. Fantastic (note the sarcasm). Further down you can watch… Continue reading Colby Gives us Ram Lambs….Again

It’s Been a Week….but….LAMBS!

February 2, 2021February 3, 2021 Amy Wheeler

We just got a dusting this afternoon, but it's hanging out making everything slushy… Continue reading New Lambs, Playing Lambs, and Snow

It feels weird not writing a post a day with baby lambs pictured. We caught a brief respite in the midst of the lambing season. This has gotten me thinking.......a dangerous prospect I'm sure! As of right now we have the Registered St Croix, Registered Katahdin, Recorded Katahdin, and Commercial Crossbred flocks of ewes as… Continue reading Sheep Goals

The Difficulty of Birthing Monsters

January 24, 2021January 24, 2021 Amy Wheeler

Registered Katahdin, Sugar, had these huge monster lambs, 11lb ewe and 12lb ram. Sire is Registered Katahdin ram, Chief. Ewe LambRam LambThe 11 lb ewe lamb I had to pull her shoulders through (she was elbow locked) as mom just couldn't quite push her out. The 12lb ram lamb was breech with rear legs extended… Continue reading The Difficulty of Birthing Monsters
