I took more pictures on the woods walk last weekend! Acorns are still not falling super steadily though I did see a few. I think mid-autumn might be a few more days away!

Spying on Wildlife: Trail-cam Videos!

We forgot to take SD cards down to the trail-cameras last weekend so no new videos for this week sadly. We put them in this weekend though so look forward to seeing what we get for the next blog post!

The Birds: Discovering with the Merlin App

I’ve spent this past week searching for the White-crowned Sparrow and the Evening Grosbeak! The Evening Grosbeak were ALL AROUND us on our woods walk Sunday too. I think I saw some flying over but never could verify with my binoculars. So frustrating!!!

Woods Walks: Hidden Finds & Nature

Our woods walk on Sunday! Saw the first little brown mushrooms of the autumn season! A Great Horned Owl feather was nearby so I put them together for the picture. The ferns are starting to come back to life on an old mossy branch. Our trails are getting leaves on them but still plenty of green out there! Creek is getting a little more water too with the periodic heavy showers we get every few days. See if you can find Shane looking at birds in the photos below!

Be on the lookout mid-autumn (when the heavy acorn drop happens) for our seasonal Hair Sheep, Hens & Harvest blog post, where we talk about how sheep breeding season went and what’s next for planting/harvesting!

October 15th will be the next Hearth & Home blog post. It’s very hard to predict just what will be in that edition! I’ll wager some cute kitty photos for sure, but beyond that, just depends what goes on in the home!
