Pictured: Looking down the hill into the swamp where the Oregon Ash trees live.
| The log had some cute chipmunk antics, birds still succeeded in being somewhat elusive, and the trees are full of color! Enjoy! Spying on Wildlife: Trail-cam Videos!
Chipmunk with attitude! First we have our little buddy trying to take an acorn across the log and it sounds like he fell in the creek with it. Next he sees a Wood Duck on HIS log and was NOT happy about it!
The Birds: Discovering with the Merlin App
No life birds this week though 3 I haven’t seen yet popped up on my Merlin App. Golden-crowned Kinglet, Hutton’s Vireo and the Pacific Wren. All of these birds are super tiny so it’s no wonder I haven’t spotted them yet! I was looking in the wrong spot for the kinglet too. Didn’t realize they like to be high up in the fir trees.
Some of what was making noise down in the woods:

Woods Walks: Hidden Finds & Nature
The Ash are really turning yellow and dropping a ton of leaves! Some more than others. I noticed a few oak leaves are beginning to brown up as well though most are still pretty green. Late autumn is coming but it’s not here yet!
Saw a mushroom along the trail, though I left it alone so no clue what it might be.
