| May was very hectic with mom (Connie) having some health issues and spending time in the hospital and a rehab facility to get her strength back. I’ve been super busy cleaning and rearranging the house while she’s been gone so not much time for woods walks, flowers, or gardening stuff. Enjoy what there is! There are still a few breeding stock lambs and adults ready now!
To see what’s available, head on over to the SHOP.
Please check out our 2025 Hair Sheep Price List!

All the sheep have been rotating pastures every 15-16 days, even the ewe lambs. We have them rotating through the front barnyard, house yards, and the orchard. Everyone gets a 3 pasture rotation so each pasture gets a month off.
Unfortunately, we have several hens sitting on eggs so the laying has slowed WAY down. We won’t be selling any eggs until the hens either hatch eggs or the eggs get tossed.

Garden Report
Managed to get a photo of the raised beds in early May. It’s all growing well!

One of the neighbors had Siberian Iris growing wild on their property when we went there to get a rooster. She let us dig some up for my mother as a “get-well-soon” gift.
Mother’s Day, Shane, Ember (Morgan) and I went on a super quick Fessler’s Nursery run to get hanging baskets so I don’t have to plant them up myself. We got two Ivy Geraniums and a cute double starry night petunia. Shane also got his daughter Avery a pretty pink Dahlia pot.

Don’t forget!
I’ve compiled a list of planting dates for 2025 based on the moon phases:
2025 Planting Guide – Zones 7/8
June is great for things like Brussels sprouts, late cabbage, basil, beans, cucumbers, melons, pumpkins, squash, corn, eggplant, peppers, tomatoes, chives, carrots, dahlias, gladioli
Late month: Brussels sprouts, early cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, Asian greens

Our HUGE old Oak tree split in half and came crashing down shortly after Mother’s Day. It was super rotten at the base. Now the part that’s left is leaning hard toward the barnyard and needs to get cut down before we have some strong NE winds. Fortunately, only one cattle panel took a hit and nothing else was damaged. The animals in that area also got out of the way in time so no injuries/fatalities. That poor tree took a big hit during the February 2021 Ice Storm and this just finished it off. So sad!

We didn’t get too many pictures of flowers down in the woods this past month. The trailcams were busy though! Mostly wind and deer, but the creek log had a couple fun videos:

Shane made another tray!
He’s calling them Beaver Tail’s because of their shape and size. Check out the cool backs on them too! Huckleberry is the blurry dog in the background.
In case you didn’t know, he’s calling his business Forest Haunter.
