Feeder Lambs

Feeder lambs consists of lambs that didn’t make the cut as breeding stock. Ram lambs will be castrated in most cases. We do not keep feeder lambs to grow out to finished weights. You must have your own facility for that purpose. We also do not take feeder lambs to processing facilities, that is your responsibility.

They are weighed at weaning (approx 60-90 days of age) and at 120 days. We do not sell by the pound. Once our wait list has been picked up, the leftover lambs are weighed once a month and price adjusted accordingly, until I decide they need to go to auction.

Lambs weigh from 30-70lbs at weaning. Most are between 40-65lbs. Prices are firm.
Here are the averages:
30-39lbs – $85
40-49lbs – $110
50-59lbs – $135
60-69lbs – $160
70-79lbs – $185

Adult ewes/rams that can no longer be breeding stock are $100 or less depending on condition and market price.

Un-papered Breeding Stock

Un-papered are sound lambs who fell slightly short of our rigorous demands for Registration/Recordation, yet are better than feeder lambs. They can range from 50% to almost purebred Katahdin or are purebred St Croix. Ram lambs from Recorded Katahdin dams will be banded and sold as feeder lambs.

Katahdin Breeding Stock

These lambs are percentage or purebred Katahdin.
Those that have papers are Recorded/Registered with Katahdin Hair Sheep International.
Paperwork for lambs will be handled by us and mailed to you from the Registry.

Registered Katahdin have either been upgraded (or have ancestors that have been upgraded) from 87.5+% Recorded or have a long history of being purebred Katahdin.

Recorded Katahdin are either purebred that lost papers somewhere in their background or crossbred (likely with some percentage of Dorper or St Croix for the most part). These animals are held to the same standards as Registered breeding stock, however ram lambs from Recorded dams are castrated and sold as feeder lambs.

Prices for breeding stock will be listed for each animal on the sales pages.
$100 deposits will be made for breeding stock sheep to hold until they are available or if they are not getting picked up right away.

Adult Ewes Exposed to Rams

If there are any adult ewes being sold, they have the option to be bred before leaving. A $25 exposure fee plus payment in full for the ewe must be received in lieu of the $100 deposit. Dates for breeding and pickup will be discussed at that time.
